Music launch of Vaazhthugal, sans hero

By Abirami Muthukrishnan

The hero and heroine of the movie didn’t turn up for the music release function, making the shutterbugs despondent.

But the audience nevertheless enjoyed themselves at the ‘Vaazhthugal’ music release gala on Thursday when three veteran actors, Satyaraj, Parthiban and Prabhu, took the mic and made so many digs at each other that it was miracle blood wasn’t flowing. Nothing was spared, Sathyaraj’s ability to carry of any wig, his appreciation of “Chechi” actresses, young and old (wink-wink), Prabhu’s ever-present girth and Parthiban’s craze for poetry. Nothing was sacred and the audience were in splits.

This Madhavan-Bhavana starrer, produced by Amma Creations and aided by Pyramid Saimira, is directed by Seeman, who has ensured again that no English word has been spoken in his movie.

Out of the songs that were screened that evening, “Enthan vaanamum”  , a duet picturised on the lead pair, echoes with Yuvan Shankar’s unique stamp on melody.Chief guest Karthik. P. Chidambaram released the audio CD while the other main guest Tamizhachi Thangapandian accepted it.

All the dignitaries on the stage gave their “vaazhthugal” to the “Vaazhthugal”  team. This out and out family entertainer will have all the masala elements and romance sans vulgarity. Even with the anachronistic theme that sings the joint family values, one can expect this movie to be a clean and fun watch.
