Google has to disclose YouTube details
By WENN
U.S. rulings have found that Google must divulge the viewing habits of every user who has ever watched a video on YouTube. The ruling comes as part of Google’s legal battle with Viacom over allegations of copyright infringement.
Digital right’s group the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) is calling the ruling, “a set-back to privacy rights.” The viewing log that Viacom will receive will contain log-in user’s IDs, computer IP addresses, and video clip details.
Viacom is accusing YouTube of massive copyright infringement and Google is involved in the battle because they recently purchased YouTube. Legal action initiated in March (07) and identified around 160,000 unauthorized clips of programmes on the site.
